Before revving up those scooters, it's crucial to understand the necessity of an International Driving Permit (IDP). In Indonesia, all foreign tourists, including Australians, are required to have an IDP; your Australian driver's licence alone won't suffice.
The Australian Automobile Association (AAA) is the only authorised distributor of IDPs in Australia, and the AANT is sales agent in the Northern Territory.
International Driving Permits cost $49.00 plus postage and you can either Apply online or visit the AANT Shop with your Australian Driver's Licence and recent passport style photo. If you apply online ensure you apply online at least 3-5 business days before your trip to ensure a smooth process.
