Every day, Territorians rely on the road network to get to work, school, appointments and destinations across the Northern Territory. Yet many roads and intersections continue to present challenges that impact safety, accessibility and confidence behind the wheel.
The AANT 2026 Risky Roads Report gives our community a voice in identifying the roads and intersections that are perceived as unsafe, difficult to navigate or in need of improvement. Conducted over six weeks between February and March 2026, the survey was open to all Territorians and attracted valuable feedback from road users across the Territory.
The findings provide important insight into the locations causing the greatest concern for the community. They also reinforce the critical role safer roads play within the Safe System approach to road safety. With the Northern Territory continuing to record the highest road toll per capita in Australia, community feedback is a powerful tool for informing road maintenance priorities, infrastructure upgrades and future planning decisions.
The report highlights key high-risk locations, identifies recurring issues raised by motorists, and outlines opportunities for governments to improve safety and reduce the risk of future crashes.
AANT is calling on all levels of government to consider these findings and take action on the issues that matter most to Territorians.
