Thanks to the fantastic team at Darwin Mazda, I had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the newly upgraded Mazda BT-50 Dual Cab SP model and it definitely exceeded my expectations!

The two-tone suede seats add a sporty, luxurious touch. They’re not just nice on the eye, they’re incredibly comfortable. There’s also plenty of space both in the front and back seats, which makes a big difference on longer drives or with passengers.

Even with a baby seat installed, there was a great amount of room in the back. The high roofline gives the interior an airy, open feel, making it one of the more spacious utes I’ve driven recently. The black side steps made hopping in easy (especially for us shorties!) and the sail plane sports bar adds a bold, edgy look. The manual roller tonneau cover not only looks great but keeps your belongings secure.
Safety That Shows Up When You Need It
The BT-50 feels really safe and supportive. In fact, I had the emergency braking feature kick in unexpectedly and it 100% worked, bringing the vehicle to a sudden and safe stop. I wasn’t even aware of this feature before, but I’m so glad it’s there. That kind of built-in safety gives real peace of mind.
User-Friendly Tech
The touchscreen is positioned just right, easy to see, easy to use. All the controls are intuitive and accessible, which makes a big difference when you're driving solo or with little ones in tow.
Didn't Go Off-Road (This Time), But…
While I didn’t take it off-road, I can confidently say it handles beautifully on regular roads. I imagine it would perform just as well on tougher terrain.
