The AANT have offered workshop based vehicle inspections for many years, due to increasing demand the AANT has expanded this service to include mobile on-site vehicle inspections to the wider Darwin and Palmerston area.

Information you need to know about the inspection
The pre-purchase inspection includes inspection of the vehicle's engine, cooling system, ignition system, transmission, suspension, steering, brakes, tyres, all of the lights and the electrical system. It will give you a better understanding of the car's true mechanical condition, so that you'll be aware of any pre-existing faults. This may put you in a better position to negotiate the price with the seller.
A complete inspection will generally take about 3 hours, but may vary depending on the complexity of the work required.
End of Warranty inspections are carried out when a new car is nearing the end of its warranty period. A thorough inspection of all the mechanical components of the vehicle, with a checklist detailing any faults identified- particularly those that should be repaired under statutory or factory warranty being provided.

| A $50 cancellation fee will apply if the inspection is cancelled less than one business day prior appointment, irrespective of circumstances. |
(Note: Some complicated vehicles will only be able to be inspected at a workshop where special equipment is needed, protective covers require removing or 2 people are required to inspect components.) |
Vehicle inspection services are for motoring club members only and all bookings must be directed through the AANT office, 79-81 Smith Street, Darwin, or by telephoning 8925 5901 and will be carried out at motor vehicle dealers or residential premises.
For reasons of safety for the inspector, there will be some restrictions on site locations without shelter and where there is no hard flat surface available to use a jack to raise the vehicle for inspection of the brakes and the underside of the vehicle.
So when you've decided what car you want to buy, remember to have it inspected by the AANT to avoid purchasing a lemon and ultimately costing thousands in repair costs.
